Ge\u00e7ti\u011fimiz y\u0131llarda yay\u0131nlanan geni\u015f kapsaml\u0131 bir \u00e7al\u0131\u015fma tam da bu konuya adanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fman\u0131n yazar\u0131, bu eser hakk\u0131n-daki eski bir tezi, yani kore\u2019nin Aphrodite\u2019nin arkaik bir k\u00fclt heykelini temsil etti\u011fi tezini, bir tak\u0131m yeni ar-g\u00fcmanla canland\u0131rmay\u0131 denemektedir. The figure is supported by her left elbow resting on an archaistic kore. To date there have been many different approaches to the interpretation of this work. In general, scholars agree that the theme of this composition is the epiphany of the goddess Aphrodite. Controversial is what the kore symbolizes. Recently, a comprehensive study was published on this issue. The author of that work attempted to revitalize with new arguments an old thesis concerning the statue in Berlin. This proposition says that the kore presents an archaic cult statue of Aphrodite. In the following paper the problems presented by this thesis are briefly treated.
