\u00d6z:<\/strong> Phaselis antik kenti, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde Antalya ili Kemer il\u00e7esinin Tekirova Mahallesi\u2019nde, antik d\u00f6nemde ise Pamphylia K\u00f6rfezi\u2019nin bat\u0131 sahilinde \u00f6nemli deniz rotalar\u0131 \u00fczerinde konumlanmaktad\u0131r. Kent \u00f6zellikle Demir \u00c7a\u011f\u0131\u2019yla birlikte ticaret ve y\u00fck gemilerinin yana\u015fmas\u0131na elveri\u015fli, korunakl\u0131 \u00fc\u00e7 liman\u0131, lag\u00fcn\u00fc ve mendirekleriyle \u00f6nemli bir k\u0131y\u0131 yerle\u015fmesi olarak \u00f6n plana \u00e7\u0131kmaktad\u0131r. Phaselis\u2019in, Akropolis ile Kuzey Yerle\u015fim aras\u0131nda do\u011fudan bat\u0131ya do\u011fru uzanan \u00fc\u00e7 al\u00e7ak tepe \u00fczerinde yak. 10 hektarl\u0131k bir alanda yay\u0131lan kent merkezi, ana kenti besleyen ve limanlara ticaret malzemeleri tedarik eden geni\u015f territoryumu ve yo\u011fun bir ticaret rotas\u0131 \u00fczerinde yer almas\u0131yla Pamphylia K\u00f6rfezi\u2019nde her zaman \u00f6n planda oldu\u011fu s\u00f6ylenebilir. B\u00f6yle geni\u015f topraklara h\u00fckmeden etkin bir kentin ciddi bir savunma a\u011f\u0131na sahip olmas\u0131 beklenir. Ancak kent savunmas\u0131na dair bildiklerimiz bug\u00fcne kadar olduk\u00e7a k\u0131s\u0131tl\u0131 olmu\u015f, hatta bu derece ticaret potansiyeli y\u00fcksek bir liman kentinin savunma yap\u0131lar\u0131 yeterince belirlenememi\u015ftir. Bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada, 2019 y\u0131l\u0131ndan itibaren s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclen \u201cPhaselis Savunma Sistemi Projesi\u201d kapsam\u0131nda olan ve \u201cMerkezi Kule\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131lan yap\u0131 ele al\u0131nmaktad\u0131r. Yerle\u015fmenin merkezinde G\u00fcney Limana h\u00e2kim bir noktada konumlanan Merkezi Kule t\u00fcm y\u00f6nleriyle ara\u015ft\u0131r\u0131lm\u0131\u015f ve kent ile b\u00f6lge savunmas\u0131 i\u00e7indeki konumu belirlenmeye \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n

Abstract:\u00a0<\/strong>The ancient city of Phaselis was located on important sea routes on the western littoral of Pamphylian Gulf; today the site lies within the Tekirova town of Kemer district in Antalya province. As of the Iron Age, the city stands out as an important coastal settlement with its three well-sheltered ports, breakwaters and lagoon, allowing anchoring of merchantmen. The city centre stretching across an area of about 10 hectares over three low hills between the Acropolis and the north settlement, its vast territory supplying the city and its ports and its location on a busy trade route all suggest that Phaselis had a considerable defence system. However, information on the defence system of the city has been limited and even the defensive structures of a city with such high trade capacity have not been satisfactorily documented. The present study deals with the structure called the Central Tower covered within the Phaselis Defence System Project that started in 2019. The Central Tower situated in the city centre dominating over the Southern Harbour has been investigated in detail and its place within the city\u2019s and region\u2019s defence has been endeavoured to be identified.<\/p>\n
