Abstract: <\/strong>Xanthus Theater is located on the west side of the city centre. Located between the Western Agora and the Lycian Acropolis, the building draws attention especially with its topographic and physical characteristics of the area. The theater, the first phase of which is dated to the IInd<\/sup> century BC, was badly damaged after the great earthquake in the IInd<\/sup> century A.D., and was almost rebuilt with major architectural changes and additions made during the Antonine and Severan periods. However, the capacity of the cavea decreased from 4628 to 2826 people, with the architectural changes implemented in the ima cavea, firstly the conversion of the theater into an arena in the second half of the IIIrd<\/sup> century A.D., and then the use of the seats removed from the summa cavea for the construction of the castron wall in the VIth<\/sup> century A.D. In addition to these changes, the vomitorium and the cavea support vaults in the east were demolished at a later period, which we do not know yet, and the cavea took its present form. In this study, the architectural structure of the Early Imperial Period cavea, about which we have limited information, has been tried to be reconstructed on the basis of detailed descriptions and evaluations.<\/p>\n

Bat\u0131 Agora ile Lykia Akropolisi aras\u0131nda konumlanan yap\u0131 \u00f6zellikle bulundu\u011fu alan\u0131n topo\u011frafik ve fiziki \u00f6zellikleri ile olduk\u00e7a dikkat \u00e7ekmektedir. \u0130lk evresi M\u00d6 II. y\u00fczy\u0131la tarihlendirilen tiyatro, MS II. y\u00fczy\u0131ldaki b\u00fcy\u00fck deprem sonras\u0131 olduk\u00e7a hasar g\u00f6rm\u00fc\u015f, bunun \u00fczerine Antoninuslar ve Severuslar d\u00f6nemlerinde ger\u00e7ekle\u015ftirilen b\u00fcy\u00fck mimari de\u011fi\u015fiklikler ve ekle\u00admelerle neredeyse yeniden in\u015fa edilmi\u015ftir. Ancak, \u00f6ncelikle MS III. y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n II. yar\u0131s\u0131nda tiyatronun arenaya d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fclmesi i\u00e7in ima cavea\u2019da uygulanan mimari de\u011fi\u015fiklikler, sonras\u0131nda ise MS VI. y\u00fczy\u0131lda kastron duvar\u0131n\u0131n in\u015fas\u0131 i\u00e7in summa caveadan s\u00f6k\u00fclen oturma s\u0131ralar\u0131 ile birlikte cavea\u2019n\u0131n kapasitesi 4628 ki\u015fiden 2826 ki\u015fiye d\u00fc\u015fm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. Bu de\u011fi\u015fikliklerin yan\u0131 s\u0131ra hen\u00fcz bilmedi\u011fimiz daha ge\u00e7 bir d\u00f6nemde do\u011fu y\u00f6ndeki vomitorium ile cavea destek tonozlar\u0131 y\u0131k\u0131lm\u0131\u015f ve cavea g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczdeki son halini alm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada, bug\u00fcne kadar hakk\u0131nda s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 bilgiye sahip oldu\u011fumuz Erken \u0130mparatorluk D\u00f6nemi cavea\u2019s\u0131n\u0131n mimari yap\u0131s\u0131, ayr\u0131nt\u0131l\u0131 tan\u0131mlamalar ve de\u011ferlendirmeler temelinde yeniden olu\u015fturulmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n
