Die zehnzeilige Inschrift, eingraviert auf einer Marmorstele, dient als Epitaph f\u00fcr ein junges M\u00e4dchen namens Laodike und wurde in Apameia, Phrygien, gefunden. Das von ihren Eltern in Auftrag gegebene Grabepigramm stellt ein weiteres Beispiel f\u00fcr das Motiv des \u201eunzeitigen Todes\u201c dar. Die Todesursache des M\u00e4dchens wird in der Inschrift nicht genannt. Das Epigramm besteht aus f\u00fcnf Distichen. Das Epigramm berichtet, dass Laodike von einem \u201eeifers\u00fcchtigen Daimon\u201c ergriffen und in den Hades entf\u00fchrt wurde. Die tiefe Trauer ihrer Mutter wird mit dem Gesang der Nachtigall sowie mit mythologischen Figuren wie Niobe, der Tochter des Tantalos, und der Eisvogelgestalt Alkyone verglichen. Beide sind in der Mythologie f\u00fcr ihr unstillbares Weinen bekannt und verk\u00f6rpern in diesem Kontext wirkungsvoll das Bild der trauernden Mutter. Dar\u00fcber hinaus findet sich eine Anspielung auf den zutiefst bek\u00fcmmerten Eisvogel, der an den Ufern klagt. Aufgrund der Buchstabenformen und des allgemeinen Stils des Epigramms kann die Inschrift in das dritte Jahrhundert n. Epigramda Laodike\u2019nin \u201ck\u0131skan\u00e7 Daimon\u201d taraf\u0131ndan ya\u011fmalan\u0131p Hades\u2019e g\u00f6t\u00fcr\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ifade edilmektedir. Metinde yas tutan annenin \u00e7ok a\u011flamas\u0131, di\u015fi b\u00fclb\u00fcl\u00fcn \u00f6tmesiyle ve Tantalis ve yal\u0131\u00e7apk\u0131n\u0131 ku\u015fu (Halkyonis) gibi mitolojik fig\u00fcrlerle k\u0131yaslanmaktad\u0131r. Tantalos\u2019un k\u0131z\u0131 Niobe\u2019yi ifade eden Tantalis \u00e7ok a\u011flamas\u0131yla mitolojide tan\u0131nd\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in burada yasl\u0131 anneyi \u00e7ok iyi ifade etmektedir. Yine \u00e7ok kah\u0131rl\u0131 Halkyonis\u2019in (Alkyone) sahillerde a\u011f\u0131t yakmas\u0131na at\u0131f vard\u0131r.
