Mitler ve Olgular: Dokuma Tanrıçası Uttu Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Myths and Phenomena: A Study on Uttu the Goddess of Weaving

Öz: Mitler evrenin ve canlıların varoluşu üzerine oluştukları toplumun düşüncesini ve inancını kuşaktan kuşağa aktarırken zamana ve mekâna göre değişim gösteren simgesel ve kutsal ağırlığı olan anlatılardır. İnceleme konumuz olan tanrıça Uttu özelinde uygarlığın oluşumunda gizli kalan ve eskiçağ toplumunda daha çok kadınlar tarafından gerçekleştirilen dokumacılığın mitlerle olan ilişkisi ele alınmıştır. Tarihsel bağlamda ele aldığımız örüntüde, sosyolojik açıdan dokumanın/giyimin ortaya çıkışının uygarlaşma yolunda atılan en önemli adımlardan birisi olduğu görüşünü irdeledik. Dokuma/Giysi tanrıçası Uttu, sadece tarımın ve hayvancılığın ortaya çıkışı ile birlikte oluşan toplumsal değişimlerin simgelerinden birisi değil, yeni oluşan sistemin kabul gören rol modellerinin başında gelir. Bu çalışmada mitlere dayanan felsefi ve sosyolojik bakış açısıyla eskiçağ toplumunu ve insanını anlamak ve yorumlamak amaçlanmıştır.

Abstract: Myths are narratives that are symbolic and have sacred weight that change according to place and time while conveying the thoughts and beliefs of the society in which they were born from generation to generation. Spesific to goddess Uttu we examined, weaving which was hidden in the formation of civilization and was performed mostly by women in ancient society has been discussed through myths. In the pattern we have discussed in the historical context, we have examined the view that the emergence of weaving/clothing is one of the most important steps taken on the way to civilization. Uttu, the goddess of Weaving/Clothing is not only one of the symbols of social changes that have occurred with advent of agriculture, but is the main of accepted role models of newly formed system. In this study, it is aimed to understand and interpret the ancient society and people by philosophical and sociological perspective based on myths.
